A Few Things I've Been Loving This September

This is my first ever monthly favourites blog post, wahooo! I decided to incorporate a lot of different things into it instead of sticking to just beauty or fashion, I just prefer it that way as it adds a bit more variety in. I'm going to try and do these every month and hopefully there'll always be a beauty product, jewellery/fashion piece and a film and/or book, and then I'll also include other miscellaneous  things as well. So anyway, onto my favourites for the month of September...

I actually can't believe how fast this year is going! I work in retail, so all seasons come around quickly for me, for example, we started putting all the Christmas things out at the end of last month. I helped merchandise the section, and for all the time I was on there you could hear people saying 'Christmas already!'. I absolutely love Autumn/Winter time and Christmas is by far my favourite holiday, also, my birthday is 2 weeks before Christmas so that just makes it all the more exciting. Because of my love for Autumn/Winter I crack out the hot chocolate at any sign of cold weather (or whenever it starts to feel more Autumnal), so one of my favourites this month is Mars Hot Chocolate. I got this from where I work, I can't remember exactly how much it was but it might have been around the £2 mark which I don't think is bad at all! It tastes so lovely, I don't really know how to describe it, it's kind of a less intense, more milky, version of a Mars Bar.

The Stick of Rock isn't there because I've been loving eating loads of rock this month, it's there to signify the trip to the seaside I took with my boyfriend this month (I have a whole blog post about it here if you'd like to know more). It was such a nice day and so calming for me, I love being by the sea and would love to live in a little house over looking the sea one day, to wake up and be able to hear the sea would be perfection.

Next up is the newly released film, Legend. This film is about the Cray Twins who were gangsters in London during the 50's and 60's, both twins are played by Tom Hardy who does an outstanding job, if he doesn't get an award for this role I'll be amazed! I would highly recommend going to see Legend as I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's also a really interesting film because it's based on true events.

Talking of films, I've been loving my iPad Mini this month. I enjoy laying in bed and watching YouTube videos on it or flicking through blog posts. I don't have a large amount of apps on there but one of my favourites has been Colorfy, which is like a virtual colouring book. It's also really handy for writing down blog ideas or planning posts.

Miss Selfridge recently had a sale online and in-store, where they had up to 30% off everything. I had a look on the online shop and found this Necklace and I've not stopped wearing it since I got it. It's so simple but has a little bar of what looks like blue marble. It goes with practically any outfit and just looks so simple and chic.

As for beauty, this month I've been loving more natural lip colours. This lipstick, Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate in '08', has been a long standing favourite of mine. It's quite moisturising so doesn't dry your lips out and I just love the colour. If you want to see what the colour is like on the lips, I wore it in my last outfit post, which you can find here.

Another beauty product I love is the YSL Babydoll Mascara. I've been using this a while now and no other mascara compares to it. It gives my lashes amazing lift and is very buildable so can also make your lashes look super thick! It is quite pricey at £25, but it's the only premium beauty product I own so I have it as my beauty treat. Just to note, I usually hate plastic brushes as they've never worked for me before and don't usually give my lashes any lift or hold at all, but this one... WOW.

What have been your favourites this month?

Asos A/W 2015 Wishlist

I find this time of year a really difficult time to buy clothes. It's in-between Summer and Autumn so shops just seem to have a bit of everything in, and none of it is really all that great if I'm honest! However, I was having a bit of a look through Asos and came across a few pieces I liked, so here they are.

I think bardot tops are so versatile, you can dress them up or down, and this 2 pack is great because you get a long sleeved and a short sleeved one for just £20! Another one of my favourites from this list are these New Look boots. The only problem is, they only come in Wide Fit and I have slim feet so I know these just won't fit me, but I decided to include them anyway because I love the look of them.

All the pieces I picked can be worn most of the year round (especially here in England when you sometimes need to bring the boots out when you should actually need sandals...), and this is what I liked about them. The weather's been unpredictable at the moment so all these items can be layered up or worn on their own, which is perfect for this time of year.

Summer To Autumn Transition Nail Colours

Finding colours that will take you through from Summer to Autumn can be a bit tricky. It's those in-between-seasons times that can catch us out and make you unsure of what colours you should be wearing and when. Here I'll run you through my four favourite nail colours for this transition period.

From Left to Right:
1. Hanover Square by Nails Inc. // 2. Watermelon by Barry M //
3. Raspberry by Barry M // 4. Berry Stain by Maybelline

I love these colours for the Summer/Autumn season because they give a nice pop of colour without being too summery. I think the thing that makes these perfect for this time of year is that they would look just as good laid by the pool, as they would cozying up by the fire on an autumn night.

I have to say, out of these three brands of nail varnishes, Maybelline is my favourite. The Forever Strong Super Stay varnishes that they do are amazing, they stay on for ages without chipping and the colour doesn't fade with wear. It's also really easy to apply as the brush is domed on the end instead of flat like regular brushes. I'd definitely recommend giving them a try!

What are your go to nail varnishes for this time of year?

*Just FYI, in person, Raspberry by Barry M is more of a darker berry red than it's showing up on camera, it didn't photograph well unfortunately!*

The Day I Was Almost An Extra In A Ted Baker Photoshoot

Last week my boyfriend and I were off work so decided to take a little trip to a seaside town near us. After much deliberation we finally settled on Scarborough. Even though it's only a 2 hour drive there, I'd never actually been before. When I was little, me and my family always had the tradition of going to Skegness every year and never really strayed away from there. When my boyfriend, Andy, suggested Scarborough, I was excited to explore somewhere new.

Whilst there, we walked around on the sea front and played in the Arcades. We probably spent a ridiculous amount of money on the slot machines, grabbers and one armed bandits, but it's all part of the fun! We also had a stroll onto the pier and sat on a bench to admire the view of the boats and various hotels peaking out through the trees. It was quite a cloudy day so the lighting for photos wasn't great, but it never rained and was quite warm so we had a lovely time.

We walked up and down the front quite a few times. The first time we walked down we went past a cafe called The Harbour Bar, which is like a 60's Diner, that was all closed off because something was being filmed there, we were curious, but carried on walking. When we walked past again a lady stopped me and asked if I wanted to be an extra in what they were filming, but she then realised I had a bandage on my hand (I had a minor operation on Monday 14th September) so she said I wouldn't be able to do it. I was disappointed but didn't really think anything of it. The last time we walked past, there were models having their pictures taken in the window, my boyfriend commented that they looked 'like dolls', which they did! When we got home we googled the name of the cafe and found out what was happening there, it was an 'International Fashion Photoshoot for Ted Baker'. Being a huge lover of Ted Baker I was absolutely devastated, but I guess I shouldn't wallow in the past.

I love this picture and how the light of the sky reflects off the sea/sand.

We walked all the way along the front and came across these cute colourful beach huts, look at those amazing two story ones!

All in all, we had a wonderful day. It was so nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and relax at the seaside. I would definitely go back in the summer to appreciate Scarborough in all it's sun shining glory!

OOTD: Last of the Summer Outfits?

This was my outfit earlier on in the week and it's possible it'll be the last of my summer outfits because the weather in the days after I wore this have been very miserable and a lot colder. I know it's not super summer, but the light colours, thin materials and lack of jacket mean it definitely isn't something I'd be wearing in the colder weather.

I wore this outfit to go out for lunch and then do a bit of shopping. These jeans are super comfy, the material is really light and stretchy so they fit amazingly. Also, I love these shoes, I think they just add a little something to an outfit. They have a padded insole so they don't make your feet hurt when walking around all the shops!

A lot of these clothes are out of season now so I've had to link clothes that are similar to the ones shown in these images.
Outfit details:
Top - Peacocks (similar)
Jeans - Bershka (similar)
Shoes - Asos
Bag - Forever 21 (similar)
Watch - Michael Kors
Necklace - Miss Selfridge (No longer available in Silver)

Birchbox September 2015: Happy Birchday!

This month marks Birchbox's 5 year birthday! So to celebrate they've come up with, what I think, is their best box yet. Not only is the content amazing but the look of the box itself is also beautiful. This month, subscribers could choose from two different patterned boxes which had been designed by Birchbox subscribers. I went for this funky patterned one, the other box had pretty watercolour balloons on it.

First up in my box I found these three products.

John Masters Organics Citrus Neroli Detangler:
If you like citrus scents, you'll definitely love this first product, it smells like lemongrass (one of my favourite scents) mixed with other lovely citrus notes such as grapefruit. From what I understand, this product is a conditioner with coconut oil and wheat amino acids that help detangle hair. There are also other ingredients, neroli and grapefruit, that help soothe your scalp.

Laura Mercier Facial Polish:
I've heard a lot about Laura Mercier products but I don't think I've ever actually used one, I'm really into trying out facial scrubs so this is great for me. I rubbed a little of this onto the back of my hand and it has small crystals in it that buff away dead skin, it left my hand feeling extremely soft, but not dry.

Beauty Protector Beauty Wash Body Cleanser:
I know I always seem to go on about how products smell but O-M-G, this smells incredible! When I first smelt it in the bottle it didn't smell of much but then I rubbed some onto my hand and the scent just exploded out of it. I'll definitely be using this straight away.

Next up, I pulled these three products out.

Laqa & Co Cheeky Lip Pencil in Cray-Cray:
In the images the colour of the tube looks a lot darker than what it is in real life (it's actually coral) but the swatch on my hand shows the colour of the lip product itself. This is a very creamy and buildable product. You could wear it as a subtle hint of lip colour or a bright pop, it's totally up to you!

Benefit The POREfessional: Licence to Blot:
I've wanted to try this since it was first realised so I was super excited to see it in my box this month. This is an instant oil-blotting stick. It can be used on top of make up when you're on the go or on it's own. It claims to banish shine for up to 6 hours. I have oily skin so I'll be putting this to the test.

The Birchbrush:
This was another item I was really excited to see. I use a 'Tangle Teezer' on a daily basis and love it, this seems like a very similar product to that but smaller so it'll be perfect for carrying in my handbag. Especially in the Autumn/Winter when the weather starts getting crazy and blowing my hair about.

That's everything I got in this months Birchbox. Are you subscribed to Birchbox? If so, what was your favourite item this month? I think mine has to be The POREfessional!

OOTD: New Month, Old Shirt

Seen as though it's the 1st September today I thought I'd go a bit out of my comfort zone and try something new, an OOTD post.

I think the reason I've put off doing an outfit post so far is because 1. I don't really like my picture being taken anyway and 2. Trying to find somewhere to take the pictures can be a bit of a pain. I was originally going to take these pictures outside but, in true British style, the weather wasn't on my side and it started raining. This meant I had to find somewhere in my bedroom to take the pictures. That wasn't exactly the easiest task because, not going to lie, my room's not the tidiest of places at the moment. Anyway, that's enough about that.

Outfit Details:
Shirt - Dorothy Perkins (Similar) / Jeans - H&M / Shoes - Sainsbury's* (Similar) /
Bag - Forever 21 (Similar) / Watch - Apple

I haven't done all that much today. I've been off work so volunteered to go get a few bits from the shop. I like to get out and about when I can because otherwise I'm either stuck at home or working. Due to this, any chance to get out of the house, I'll take it. I also had a little drive up to a retail park that's quite close to me. They're opening a new TK Maxx there and was wondering what the actual opening date was, turns out, it's this Thursday, so I'll be going up to have a look in there when it opens.

I chose this outfit as I just wanted something casual and comfy. The shirt I have on is actually quite old, but I recently found it in my wardrobe so decided to wear it. I like the military style, the pockets and buttons on the shoulders add a little touch of detail without being too over the top. I find with a lot of my clothes I wear them once and forget about them, so when I find them again (or remember I have them) it's like a new piece of clothing, but obviously a lot cheaper!

Have you been up to much today?

*The shoes I'm wearing are now half price in store at Sainbury's, but they don't have them online so I've linked similar ones.
